With respect, what is sad is the company has lost sight of their purpose. I read of "safety" and "security." I am not interested in another company providing software to keep me from mistakes. I can handle my mistakes. I cannot handle an upgrade to a perfectly useful and efficient product that provides only one new thing - extra clicks and windows interferring with my work flow. The software is no longer efficient. It is now cumbersome. It now slows me down. I cannot afford to waste time on a piece of software that "whines" continually with the same question. I've never seen software before that forced me to answer the same question over and over without being able to somehow say, "consider this my final answer." :( Does it matter in the least what the company may have had in mind if the end result is completely unhappy users who are now bolting desperately for another similar product?

By the way, I had to log in 3 times to get this post to take...

I would like to request the ability to turn off the "File has changed" popup window. I work on several sites at one time, on several occasions that popup has appeared just as I am clicking something else, and the changed file gets saved to the original site, where I do not want to go. Thank you.

In Settings - File editing, disable 'Watch locally edited files and prompt to upload modifications'. Then it won't prompt you again, you have to upload changes manually.

Is this dialog box?

It does not work, yet continue to receive the dialog box, even if the option -that you mention- is checked or unchecked.

That's unfortunate. botg stated the dialog box will stay, because it's impossible to automatically detect when a file editing is finished. Worth the try it was...

@botg: Shouldn't that option switch off the prompting?

You're editing a remote file, not a local file.

Could there be a similar option for remote files? Don't prompt and don't take action until manually executed. Would at least make one group happy.

Why not simply work with a local copy of the complete site?

THANK YOU BOCO,

That tip worked perfectly!

"Why not simply work with a local copy of the complete site?"

To quote a rather rude reply to a polite request, posted earlier... it saddens me when people do not understand the problem.

What if, like me, you are running up to 7 sites at a time on any given day? How many local copies of a complete site must I store offline just to use this software? You have no idea just how large some of my sites are and they are not simply purty HTML web pages.

MANY THANKS to the previous folks who posted the note about unchecking that box. It works well for me. I do not mind refreshing manually as it is STILL faster than clicking that irritating (and remaining quite useless) box alert.

And if, as earlier posted, this software is not a file transfer program, why do the promotions all over the net read, "FileZilla is a cross-platform graphical FTP, FTPS and SFTP client a lot of features, supporting Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and more." ?

Personally, I am now outa here. I got web to work. Should I have any further challenges with this piece of software, it, too, is outa here! (Mainly because I've never seen such ludicrously offensive responses to customer questions in my life.)

Cheers!

Because it is a file transfer program.
