got positive EPSV response, but can't connect

#1 Post by Pipi » 2010-07-23 10:20

Hello!

I am new to this forum. I m trying to setup a small ftp server.
Here's what i've done so far:
- Installed Filesilla server, created users, setup the passive mode (Retrieve external IP address and custom port range 50000-51000).
- Created an account at DynDNS and installed DynDNS updater.
- Created an exception for both Filezilla server and Filezilla Server Interface in Win XP firewall, as well as opened port range 50000-51000.
- Forwarded port 21 in my router for the ftp server. Created an exception on my router's firewall for the ftp server.

Now, when i test my server from a remote website (Wormly), i get the following log:

Resolving hostname...
Starting FTP Test...
* About to connect() to XXXXXXXXXX port 21 (#0)
* Trying XXXXXXXXXX... * connected
* Connected to XXXXXXXXXXXXX (XXXXXXXXXX) port 21 (#0)
< 220-FileZilla Server version 0.9.36 beta
< 220 Hello Folks! Dat's me serva!
> USER richa
< 331 Password required for richa
> PASS
< 230 Logged on
> PWD
< 257 "/" is current directory.
* Entry path is '/'
> EPSV
* Connect data stream passively
< 229 Entering Extended Passive Mode (|||50000|)
* Trying 109.213.24.63... * Timeout
* connect() timed out!
* got positive EPSV response, but can't connect. Disabling EPSV
> PASV
< 227 Entering Passive Mode (109,213,24,63,195,80)
* Connection time-out
* Closing connection #0
FTP Test completed.

I have read a similar post on this forum, but i did not get the answer to my question. I have also read the Network Configuration wiki.

I suppose I need to open more ports, but i don't know where. They're open in my firewall and in Filezilla. Do i need to open the same port range in my router? How can i do this?

Pierre

- Forwarded port 21 in my router for the ftp server.
You must forward the entire Passive port range as well.
