550 File or Directory Not Found

I am new to the server software, and have made my best effort to solve my issue by looking at the FAQ, wiki, and forums...hope no one will shoot me for this inquiry.
Specifically, I am running 0.925 beta on a Windows XP Pro system. I am able to "sign in" to the server from other PC's on my home network, but get the 550 error message when I try to upload files.
In case anyone wonders if it might be a firewall issue (router or Zone Alarm), I would assume not, since disabling ZA did not solve the problem, and for years I have successfully port forwarded to my old Serv-U software via ports 20 and 21 on my linksys router. Plus, I doubt I could even sign in if I was being firewalled out.
I have not changed any of the settings on the server software as of yet...my user account directs me to a folder I call c:\acc, which has three subfolders which I can access as well from my ftp client...and I have permissions checked for all four categories in files and directories. I have tried uploading folders and single files, but keep getting the 550 message.
I am not sure how to follow the options in the FAQ about additional software configuration changes...if it is relevant, I am on high speed cable, and use XXX.dysdns.org as my external fixed server ip address.
So, as I am very much looking forward to making good use of the software, I will be greatly appreciative if someone can help a newbie here get this to work.
Thanks in advance!
