Hello,
I recently connected to an FTP using Filezilla. This FTP account was not mine (but I was given access), and I am not sure if the account manager is trustworthy.
I did not download/upload anything, I simply changed my mind and close the connection after a few seconds.
If the manager had bad intentions (like hacking my pc), could I have automatically download on my PC a malware/spyware or anything similar?
Thanks

No, all file transfers are client-initiated. Servers cannot start transfers.
If you didn't initiate any transfers then you're perfectly safe.

Re: Automatic Malware/Spyware Download
Of course, the server owner got your IP address (that's how the net works) and could attempt to scan/access your machine using other ways.
But you will never get anything over FTP that you (or the FTP client) didn't start. The FileZilla Client does never start any transfers by itself.

Re: Automatic Malware/Spyware Download
IP addresses are public knowledge anyhow. Attempting to hide addresses is like two Englishmen in China speaking Mandarin to prevent a third Englishman from hiding what they are saying.
Re: Automatic Malware/Spyware Download
IP addresses are public, yes, but the association of a non-static IP to a potential target might not always be.
