I've checked my firewall exceptions and FileZilla is included.
I've checked to make sure the host, username, password and port are all correct.
I have looked in this forum, but have not been able to find a solution... any help would be appreciated.
FileZilla has worked well in the past, but I haven't used it for about six months. I've uploaded the current version and am having problems.

Re: Network error: Software caused connection abort
There simply does not appear to be a working SFTP server at that address. If there should be, contact your server administrator or server hosting provider for assistance.

Re: Network error: Software caused connection abort
Thank you... That could indeed be the problem. The server is a RootsWeb server operated by ancestry.com and they have been having problems for the past six months or so... I'll rest on the "it's not me, it's them" theory for a while! Thank you.
Re: Network error: Software caused connection abort
Are you sure it's SFTP and not FTPS?

Re: Network error: Software caused connection abort
Yes. The host, as given by RootsWeb (ie ancestry.com) is: sftp://sitesuser.rootsweb.com
I've sent them an E-mail asking about the site, but haven't heard back yet....
Thank you again.

Re: Network error: Software caused connection abort
I am now able to connect and transfer files ! !
Here is how it has worked out: (in case someone else has a similar problem)
I followed ancestry.com's instructional video: How to connect to RootsWeb sites with FileZilla, and my connection was unsuccessful. I found another instructional video: Genealogy Computer Tips for websites hosted by RootsWeb at: http://sites.rootsweb.com/~gearyfamily/ ... sites.html and followed their instructions for connecting with Filezilla (which are similar, but a bit different than the ancestry.com video instructions) and was able to connect...
