Re: GnuTLS error -8: A record packet with illegal version

Your error is likely because of this. http://ramblings.linkerror.com/?p=45 Very interesting. That would make it a bug in vsftpd, actually. Should be reported to the vsftpd devs. Any comment e.g. from botg whether this definitely is a bug in vsftpd or maybe just some insane interpretation of an othe...

Re: sftp with filezilla server and openssh done but.....

Well, of you followed the instructions in your link you should know that it's not FileZilla server that is providing the SFTP server, but OpenSSH. As such, FileZilla server cannot display the connections made to the OpenSSH server, as it is a completely different program. The guy who wrote the instr...

Re: 0.9.39: Interface still cannot connect to remote server

Doh, thanks for spelling that out for me: My existing address filters were reset due to the change to CIDR syntax. After entering them again, connecting with the interface from a remote machine works fine again. Sorry for the noise.

0.9.39: Interface still cannot connect to remote server

Hi, even with the recently released version 0.9.39, I'm unable to make the interface running on machine A connect to the server running on machine B. The log prints in a loop: Reconnecting to server... Connected, waiting for authentication Connection to server closed. Trying to reconnect in 5 second...

Re: 0.9.38 Can't connect to interface

Please try http://filezilla-project.org/codesquid/FileZilla_Server-experimental.exe I tried to stop the original service to exchange the executables. However, stopping the service did not work properly, it hangs at the "stop pending" state. So I terminated the process, exchanged the executables, an...

Right, I'm using FTPS, so that is a different issue. Thanks for the link!

Re: 0.9.38 Can't connect to interface

Add the following line to "FileZilla Server.xml" to fix the problem:
1
Even with that work-around, clients cannot connect anymore. The log says: > Could not get peer name > 421 Refusing connection. Could not get peer name. > disconnected. It seems the...

Re: Silently cached credentials?

Ah yes, the fix it yourself mentality that mars the entire open source community. When that is the habitual response it doesn't at all encourage people to give you any feedback. I know, I always hated this fresh answer myself, that is until I got involved in OSS projects that have a high user count...

Re: Silently cached credentials?

[...] you have a very distorted view on customer expectations. Indeed, to be honest, I personally do not care much about customer expectations for FileZilla. It's not a commercial product, and there's no product manager who is responsible for making FileZilla like his / her (paying!) customers want...

Re: Silently cached credentials?

I see the security risk in storing passwords in plain text, but still I share botg's opinion: IMHO it's a completely valid standpoint to say this is out of scope of FileZilla, or in fact any third-party application, and the task of the user / administrator to choose e.g. a file(system) / container-b...

Re: Feature Request: Verify Transfered File Integrity

Lorne, a probably better method than resending the broken parts would be to use a tool like [1]. It creates partity sums, very similar to how RAID-5 works, which can be used to repair the transferred data without transferring it again.

Re: Filezilla Server Service affects Logitech Webcam Software

Are you sure this is caused by FZS and not by any other MinGW software you're running? There are known interferences between MinGW / Cygwin programs and the Logitech webcam driver, see e.g.

Re: FTPS and vsftpd 2.2

The problem was caused by a regression in pasv_address support. This has been fixed in vsftpd 2.2.1.
