Re: How to configure correctly in order to upload themes int

Presently, what you're trying to do (FTPing from local to local from a FTP client to an FTP server on the same device) is complicated. No, it isn't. Setting up the server and maintaining it is the hard part. That is what they're doing - setting up an FTP server to make all this work. So as I said, ...

Re: How to configure correctly in order to upload themes int

I simply thought to give it a try on my own. That way, I could avoid having to learn one more thing at that point, Filezilla. When you come to work on a remote site, like WP on hosting when you get it, you'll likely find Filezilla easier to learn as you'll be using it for the most simple tasks it's...

Re: How to configure correctly in order to upload themes int

The techie FZ related questions I'll leave for Admin/Mods. It's fine to do coding and just messing with WP locally on your machine, most devs do so. As you have a working WP install, you just need to download a theme which you want to try (forget FTP/Filezilla completely at this point), copy the unz...

Re: How to configure correctly in order to upload themes int

The theme I'm using at the moment is the default that came with WP. And, yes. It's activated and working very nicely. I meant, is YOUR theme in the WP admin area and can it be activated? ie the one which is not working we're trying to troubleshoot. My reason for employing this, is so that I can sor...

Re: Starting Filezilla

Why is there a difference between "Files to be transferd" and "File transferd correctly". "to be transferred" is future tense (to be done), "transferred correctly" is past tense (has been done). "Files to be transferred" is likely your queue of files awaiting to be transferred. Maybe you added some...

Re: How to configure correctly in order to upload themes int

Does your theme have the minimum required files, such as an index.php, header.php, footer.php, functions.php, style.css? When you go to the WP admin area (admin->Design->Themes), is your theme visible, and can it be activated ? -I did, create a database for the theme in MyphpAdmin. Either you are co...

Re: Data connection timeout

Thanks boco, that explains it for me.
It takes 10 seconds on average to log in to the shell system on my hosting. (They have plans to improve it)

botg - How much beer would you want to change the 60 seconds in FZ? :D

Thanks both. I wasn't aware it was full login following data connection timeout.

Re: Data connection timeout

Thanks for the info. I already poked my provider (who are pretty good). I'll re-poke them. Any other possibilities to consider my end? I'm on FileZilla 3.5.3, Debian 7.4 AMD64 EDIT: When FZ drops the data connection after 60 seconds, does FZ need to re-establish login with the SSH (SFTP) server agai...

Re: Data connection timeout

How long does reconnecting take in your situation? 10 to 15 seconds, but it's annoying as the frequency is every 2 to 5 mins on average. When one has a vast amount of things going on at any one time, completely halting workflow to stare at the screen 15 or 20 times an hour is annoying (I can have h...

Re: Data connection timeout

FileZilla is not other clients. Hmm. I hadn't noticed, but after some evaluation, I see your point...Schoolboy error on my part... I just meant that as gFTP had no timeout it shows it's likely the setting in Filezilla, and there are no issues with, eg, firewall, router, remote server, etc. Wasn't c...

Re: IDEA NEW FEATURE FILEZILLA

As a developer I don't want my FTP client to do anything other than provide the File Transfers I requested (and things which obviously fall under file transfer, of which compression is not one) I wouldn't want it to attempt to compress images, or spell check filenames, or any other stupid thing that...

Re: Data connection timeout

Already have that to 0. Timeout still occurs after 60 seconds. data connections are used for the actual transfers and disconnect 60 seconds after transfers have finished. So if your next transfer is not within 60 seconds the data connection has to be reestablished. That's simply how it works, the da...

Data connection timeout

Hi, Are there any plans to change the FileZilla data connection timeout from 60 seconds? Waiting for the SFTP connection to re-establish every 3-4 mins intervals is hard going as I do this all through the day (ie 10 hours). Apart from the inconvenience, isn't it arguably less secure sending credenti...
