I suppose you can run the server in a VM. Make sure to forward the required ports, please refer to the Network Configuration guide. You can test your setup on https://ftptest.net/

There is nothing to fix.
FileZilla uses Windows' AssocQueryString function to look up associations. If it does not return the desired association, it hasn't been set up correctly in the system.
You can always override it with custom associations in FileZilla.

You can use directory listing filters if you do not want to see files with names ending on a tilde.

Did you hide the transfer queue? Make sure it is enabled in the View menu.

S3 is a proprietary protocol by Amazon. Any third-party provider who claims to be S3 compatible needs to implement the entire S3 API.

Failure to receive a reply to the AUTH command is almost always caused by a malicious firewall or NAT router intentionally sabotaging the connection. Note that this firewall or router may be with your ISP.
