Re: Error about invalid certificate is incorrect

FileZilla doesn't validate certificates using a CA store like most other software, so it will always show new certificates as "unknown" until you choose to accept and trust it for future sessions. You'll need to somehow contact your hosting provider to obtain the correct fingerprint for each new cer...

TLS 1.3 support

Hello,

When using FileZilla Client on Linux with a version of GnuTLS that supports TLS 1.3, it will fail to establish data connections to servers that also support TLS 1.3. This appears to be caused by FileZilla Client not supporting the new method of session resumption in TLS 1.3.

TLS validation support

Hello, I was just wondering if your stance on not using the CA system in FileZilla Client has changed at all? Now that places like Let's Encrypt provide free certificates, and with all CAs now having to support Certificate Transparency, it seems like it would be a good idea to support the CA system ...

Re: Unknown Certificate for commercial SSL certificate

FileZilla follows the TOFU model of trust. There just isn't any certificate whitelist that is trusted by default. You, as the user, select what to trust. Once that decision is stored, FileZilla won't ask again for that connection (until the cert expires). FileZilla doesn't trust commercial certific...

Is there a server you'd recommend over vsftpd?

Canceling file upload lockup

It seems with one of the recent updates, when trying to cancel a file upload, the entire program will just lockup indefinitely until killed in the task manager. This is with version 3.25.0-rc1 on Windows 7.

Trace log attached.

Re: fixing my FTP (slow download speed)

OVH is well known for running many of their peering points at or near capacity, it wouldn't surprise me if this was simply a matter of congestion. It would certainly explain why a lot of the feature requests for segmented downloads come from people with servers on OVH's network.

Re: Are my files too big?

At that the 3GB mark it finally "appended" the 3GB to the file and the file size then became 3GB then the whole process started over again to get it to 6GB then to 9GB until it was finished uploading. According to your post quoted above, it also stops with the append permission granted. The only di...

Re: TLS error messages

Hello, There still appears to be an error message in FileZilla Client, when vsftpd triggers its timeout for idle connections. I've been told by you in the past, that this is harmless, but this error message would probably make most people think that something is wrong. vsftpd 3.0.2: 12:05:04 Status:...

Re: SOCKS 5 proxy w/ FTPES problem

Normal PuTTY doesn't deal with high latency well. The embedded PuTTY components in FileZilla contain some changes to improve performance which ideally should also benefit ordinary PuTTY. If you're willing to try it out, I've created a special PuTTY build for you. This is the unmodified PuTTY, built...

Re: SOCKS 5 proxy w/ FTPES problem

The problem appears to be with PuTTY, perhaps it's not optimized very well for long distance, high throughput scenarios. It starts to limit per connection speeds at around 50ms, but anything 40ms and under appear fairly normal. The higher the latency gets, the more limited it becomes. I tested on a ...
