Have you tried using the new filter option in FZ3? Available from the toolbar.

There's a button for reconnecting on the top toolbar. It's on the right.

AFAIR fz2 at least at some point could import SmartFTP sites. If you start FZ2, open the site manager and go File - Import, and try to open the settings file from SmartFTP. Then, import from FZ2 to FZ3.
