Re: clear-text passwords
Hi Boco, The setting is there and set to 0 now but I've already unchecked it in preferences and gone back and entered the passwords on several accounts. I don't use the quick connect option. Well I have used it before to confirm a connection but then I go add the site in the site manager. I will adm...

Re: clear-text passwords
This is just freaking great. I updated filezilla and it installed with the default set to not store passwords wiping out all the passwords in my site manager. This setting should have been turned off or a warning during the update. Luckily I have most of them saved in a backup of the sitemanager.xml.

Re: Too many authentication failures for server when using p
Any news on fixing this issue in filezilla? I've seen a few bug reports and forum posts referring to the same issue but didn't see any resolution besides the work around I used.

Re: Too many authentication failures for server when using p
I figured out how to change SSH_AUTH_SOCK in my filezilla shortcut on Ubuntu. env SSH_AUTH_SOCK="" /opt/FileZilla3/bin/filezilla The good thing is, this is only setting the env variable for this session so I can simultaneously use terminal to open a ssh connection to another server using m...

Too many authentication failures for server when using pass
Hi, I'm getting the error msg "Too many authentication failures for servername" which I have read is caused by filezilla reading and trying my ssh keys. But I am using a username/password login for this connection. I don't want filezilla trying to use ssh keys when I'm using a username/pas...

Re: failed to inisialise sftp after update to 3.5.3
Well, it's automagically fixed. :-) I decided to try the portable version of 3.5.3 on linux and windows and it worked perfectly. Then I decided to try letting the full install 3.5.2 update like I had done originally and now updated to 3.5.3 it is working perfectly. All I can guess is that something ...

Re: failed to inisialise sftp after update to 3.5.3
I was busy with some other things for a couple days but finally uninstalled and found 3.5.2 on filehippo(thank goodness) and installed it. Everything works fine now. I had to completely uninstall 3.5.3 for it to work. The downgrade option in the installer didn't work

fcam,
I'm sorry to hear you experienced the same problem but glad I'm not just crazy
Have you tested any of the other options mentioned above (winscp, putty, psftp.exe)?

Re: failed to inisialise sftp after update to 3.5.3
Well, I found that one of my own shared accounts setup on my reseller plan it works. Actually all psftp, filezilla, winscp, and putty work with that one. As for the accounts that don't work, even psftp gives me the "unable to init sftp" error. So as you say, it probably is a temporary issu...

Re: failed to inisialise sftp after update to 3.5.3
thanks for the suggestion Boco, I tested putty and winscp and both of them tell me shell access is not enabled for the servers I'm having the problem with. This would seem to imply that it is a server side problem if it had not worked fine before the update. But since putty and winscp can not connec...

Re: failed to inisialise sftp after update to 3.5.3
"Fatal: unable to initialise SFTP on server : could not connect This seems to be a server problem. Please contact the server administrator for assistance. Wow, a server problem caused by updating filezilla client? I don't mean to be insulting but that was the quickest, easiest, and most ridicu...

failed to inisialise sftp after update to 3.5.3
Hi, I have several servers I connect to with sftp through port 2222. After updating filezilla none of them will work. I get the error message, "Fatal: unable to initialise SFTP on server: could not connect". The same connections will work over ftp port 21. I found a few old posts saying to...

thanks boco
Actually I figured out the admin interface port and ftp port yesterday. I can now connect to the server locally through filezilla client but not locally through IE or firefox. I'm using dyndns and getting a static IP from my wireless. When I use the dyndns.org address with filezilla localy it connec...

I don't know either
I can't even connect locally. It says it connected, then gives some strange symbols as responses and then after 30 seconds or so it says failed to connect. I hope someone can tell us where to find a step by step guide with explanations of what the configuration settings mean. LOL I'm 1 quarter away ...
