It worked fine using FTP but their server sometimes prevents FTP access when my dynamic IP address changes, something else I find a bit bizarre.

That is just what I thought but they seem to think otherwise but cannot give me a logical reason why.
I couldn't see the problem because I would have to be logged in order to get anywhere.

Once you have set up your main root FTP account, setting up for addons is quite easy. Worth mentioning it only happens when opening local files.
