Re: Why are the remote bytes shown different from the local bytes?

And solved. I just changed the transfer type from auto to binary and it works like other clients now.

I think all modern editors can deal with the different line endings anyway.

Whew.

Re: Why are the remote bytes shown different from the local bytes?

Brainstorm. I bet I know what FZ is doing. It's adjusting the character used for carriage-return-line-feed in both directions because it knows it's clearly a text file from the .txt extension. Looking at the wc results again: 102454 873047 5833434 schoolList.txt 102454 873047 5935888 schoolList2.txt...

Re: Why are the remote bytes shown different from the local bytes?

I've narrowed down the cause. It has to do with the way FZ handles files with a .txt extension. As a test, I changed the extension from .txt to .auto and the bytes match up perfectly when uploaded from FZ: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5833434 Oct 25 02:35 schoolList.auto <- from FZ -rw-r--r-- 1 root root ...

Re: Why are the remote bytes shown different from the local bytes?

Just some more analysis of this strange behavior. Going in via the shell to see what's there after uploads I see this: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5833434 Oct 25 02:25 schoolList.txt -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5935888 Oct 25 02:22 schoolList2.txt I renamed the FZ uploaded file to schoolList2.txt. It has more...

Re: Why are the remote bytes shown different from the local bytes?

I tested with Transmit too. It also shows 5.8 MB at the remote server after upload. Only FileZilla seems to show 5.9 MB at the remote server after upload for some reason. If I open FileZilla and look at the remote directory after uploading from Forklift or Transmit, it does show the right number of ...

Why are the remote bytes shown different from the local bytes?

With 15 files from just a few hundred bytes in size to a few hundred KB in size, all text files, the local bytes shown match exactly with the remote bytes after upload. But this morning I was testing a .txt file that is 5,833,434 bytes. When I upload it with FileZilla it shows on the remote server a...

Preserving the time stamp when transferring

I have the "preserve the time stamp" option set. But after transfer, the remote server shows the time of transfer, rather than the modified date/time of the file I uploaded. Is there a way to actually preserver the time stamps?

Thanks,

A way to change the "play sound" sound after a transfer?

I have "play sound" selected for after a transfer is complete. Is there a way to change the default sound to another sound?

Thanks,

Re: Can FileZilla remember options when the target already exists

Thanks. Found it. The options were different in the global settings (fewer) but they were the ones I wanted.

Can FileZilla remember options when the target already exists

When I select a batch of files and then upload them, the first time after I open FileZilla I get options to choose from when the target already exists (overwrite, overwrite if source is newer, etc.) And there is a checkbox to "always use this selection." If I check that box it remembers for the curr...

Re: A way to see the queue as it's being processed?

It seems "play sound" works but on the Mac, anyway, the default "show notification bubble" doesn't.

Re: Can the file listings auto-refresh after a transfer is complete?

Another quick followup. It seems inconsistent. At a 2nd server it did refresh just before. At a 3rd server it did not without me manually refreshing. All the servers have the same files and are using the same FTP server software (2 dev servers and a live server).

Re: Can the file listings auto-refresh after a transfer is complete?

I was just using it again. It doesn't auto-refresh for me. For example, the time-stamp on an uploaded file does not refresh in the remote pane automatically.

Is there is a settings for this?

Thanks,

Stop the prompt to upload a changed file?

I notice if I edit a file locally and have the remote pane open a dialog pops up to ask me if I want to upload it, continue editing, or whatever. While I see how that might be convenient, I find it interfering. Is there a way to turn that feature off? I pretty much know when I'm ready to upload chan...
