Re: fixing my FTP (slow download speed)

OVH is well known for running many of their peering points at or near capacity, it wouldn't surprise me if this was simply a matter of congestion. It would certainly explain why a lot of the feature requests for segmented downloads come from people with servers on OVH's network.

Re: Are my files too big?

At that the 3GB mark it finally "appended" the 3GB to the file and the file size then became 3GB then the whole process started over again to get it to 6GB then to 9GB until it was finished uploading. According to your post quoted above, it also stops with the append permission granted. The only di...

Re: TLS error messages

Hello, There still appears to be an error message in FileZilla Client, when vsftpd triggers its timeout for idle connections. I've been told by you in the past, that this is harmless, but this error message would probably make most people think that something is wrong. vsftpd 3.0.2: 12:05:04 Status:...

Re: SOCKS 5 proxy w/ FTPES problem

Normal PuTTY doesn't deal with high latency well. The embedded PuTTY components in FileZilla contain some changes to improve performance which ideally should also benefit ordinary PuTTY. If you're willing to try it out, I've created a special PuTTY build for you. This is the unmodified PuTTY, built...

Re: SOCKS 5 proxy w/ FTPES problem

The problem appears to be with PuTTY, perhaps it's not optimized very well for long distance, high throughput scenarios. It starts to limit per connection speeds at around 50ms, but anything 40ms and under appear fairly normal. The higher the latency gets, the more limited it becomes. I tested on a ...

SOCKS 5 proxy w/ FTPES problem

Hello, I have a SOCKS 5 proxy setup between a local machine (Windows 7 using PuTTY's dynamic SSH port forwarding) and a remote server about 50ms away. I'm able to get my full 170Mbps through the proxy when downloading via plain FTP, but if I select FTPES in FileZilla, the download speed will act ver...

TLS error messages

Hello, I'm using FileZilla Client 3.10.1-rc1 and it's still showing the ECONNABORTED error message whenever the server closes the connection. According to the changelog, these should be silenced now. 21:31:18 Status: Connecting to 216.85.11.73:21... 21:31:18 Status: Connection established, waiting f...

Re: Is there a way to turn off the TLS default in the latest Filezilla?

now I have 5000 open ports? Are we sure the balance of risk is right? chances of a network plain text intercept v 5000 open ports? The ports aren't open unless they're in use. Your firewall probably just relied on iptables FTP helper for automatically allowing incoming data connections and that's o...

Re: Is there a way to turn off the TLS default in the latest Filezilla?

TLSProtocol SSLv3 TLSRenegotiate required off These are insecure options. TLSRequired off TLSVerifyClient off Unnecessary, as they're already off by default. Then for the changes to take effect, reboot the server using this command: shutdown -r now Completely unnecessary to reboot the entire server...

Any clue on how to fix this? Thanks.
That actually sounds about right.

3Mb/s = 375KB/s

Re: 'GnuTLS error -12: A TLS fatal alert has been received.'

I have no doubt this is something that could be done better on the Server side, but, that said, I have no option to fix that side of things. So, I would actually find it preferable to turn off this security conversation on the filezilla side if possible. Is it possible? Right now my only other opti...

(vsFTPd 2.2.2) That server is probably running RHEL/CentOS, they still ship out that version of vsFTPd to this very day, it's a version from 2009 with only some of the bugs backported. vsFTPd only included a single cipher "DES-CBC3-SHA" as the default back then, FileZilla Client no longer supports ...

Re: Updated To Version 3.10.0 Now Receiving Errors

In one of the other posts about this issue there's a guy with 50+ hosts and he can't connect to any of them. Myself, I have tried to connect to 4 or 5 major hosting companies and can't connect to any of them. So are you really seriously saying that EVERY major hosting company out there, Rackspace, ...
