Re: FileZilla is slow 5MB/s on local ssh server, but not $sf

rgevrv wrote:The 2013-03-04 build is indeed faster: settled at ~10MB/s on a 2.5GB file.
While the tool "sftp" is 16,6MB/s on the same file, so still room for improvement.
Interesting, would not have thought that a client can determine the speed.
Clients and servers can make a huge difference in speed.

Re: FTP = Frustrating Trickle Protocol...

FTP is very fast if used in a proper network. If your network isn't proper, fix that first. Which is possible to do in a corporate environment... But for those that use FTP over the internet, this is a different story. I'm talking about when we don't have any say, what-so-ever, about the networks b...

Re: Segmented Downloads - Any Plans?

Perhaps those changes improve the performance when the network conditions are more ideal... I'm still stuck at about 128KiB/s* for any single transfer... * it varies quite a bit around this value... Why not get to the root of the problem and talk to your ISP or the network provider of the server(s)...

Re: Segmented Downloads - Any Plans?

it's simply an extension of functionality onto a protocol that wasn't originally written to optimally handle single files of such size. FTP handles large files just fine, segmented downloads are just a sloppy way to try and work around the real problems. (i.e. Low quality network stacks, FTP client...

Re: GnuTLS error -12 when trying to connect to with Explicit

I somehow doubt that botg will re-enable weak ciphers. Consider them gone for good. 3DES got added back in somehow, which I consider far worse than RC4. RC4 isn't weak when used in the context of SSL/TLS anyway. It looks like the flags he used "SECURE256:+SECURE128", the "+" adds 3DES back in for s...

Re: GnuTLS error -12 when trying to connect to with Explicit

If it's the same problem as everyone else in this thread, then it's due to the server not supporting any of the ciphers FileZilla Client allows. Between versions 3.5.3 and 3.6.0, the most common cipher that was excluded is RC4-SHA, perhaps your FTP server only allows that cipher? If you are correct...

Re: GnuTLS error -12 when trying to connect to with Explicit

I have Filezilla 3.5.3 running on my Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion and it works fine. I tried upgrading to 3.6.0 today and it broke my Explicit TLS connection to several FTP Servers. I FTP into my ISP to my website all the time using Filezilla. I didn't change anything in my my Site Manager but...

Re: FTPES disconnects

Hello,

Are there any plans to prefer AES GCM over CBC?

It appears RC1 is still preferring CBC mode.

Thanks

Re: FTPES disconnects

Please try the latest build from http://filezilla-project.org/nightly.php That appears to have fixed it. Also, I noticed you added a cipher tool to the debug menu, odd how all the predefined cipher-spec strings for GnuTLS all seem to prefer CBC mode over GCM. Hopefully something can be done about t...

Re: FTPES disconnects

Not much we can do here. The server requires session reuse, yet the very same server poses a 1 hour expiration limit on the session lifetime. This problem cannot be fixed client-side, only worked around with extreme effort :( Have you looked into vsftpd to verify that this is definitely the case? T...

The issue seems to have gotten worse with version 3.6.0-beta1. After 1 hour, instead of the next transfer just failing once and automatically resuming, it actually errors out the remainder of the queue with this: 03:36:41 Response: 522 SSL connection failed; session reuse required: see require_ssl_r...

Re: FTPES disconnects

My question was more for original poster xeon to see if he has figured out a workaround. botg/boco, I could provide you ftp access to our test server where this is consistently reproducible. Let me know if that works for you. Unfortunately, I don't see any way to work around it on FileZilla. I have...
