What botg is suggesting here is that you can make a script that edits FileZilla Server.xml (e.g. adding new users to the config) and then run the reload-config command afterwards. It's an alternative way to do what you want.

You need to explain better what exactly you are doing and trying to do.

Upgrading to latest version (FZ 2.2.32) will keep your settings and sites.

A backup of filezilla.xml found in the directory where you installed filezilla (normally something like c:\program files\filezilla) is always recommended, though.

Try "Transfer -> File overwrite settings" from the menu at the top.

Edit: If you check out latest nightly of FZ3 (next version of FileZilla), there's a more advanced file exists dialog that will do what you want much easier.

Follow the dev. diary in the development forum. I'm guessing most of the people in the community have already switched or at least semi-switched. As I said in another post (think it was in the dev. diary), it's not recommended in a business environment yet, though.

I've been following the FileZilla project for over 3 years now, helping mostly with user support on the forum and on the trackers. But I have never contributed any code to FZC or FZS. That's why I'm happy to announce that a few days ago I had my first real look at FZ3's source code. botg have kept i...

Now, if I understand you correctly, you don't want users connecting to your ftp server to know that you are running FZS (FileZilla Server)?

Only solution - afaik - is to edit the source code yourself and remove references to FZS in commands/responses, then build your own build of FZS.

It's difficult to tell, but most of the people in the FZ community have already switched. I'd probably not recommend it in a business environment yet, though.

Excellent work, bjauy. Haven't tested it yet (manually converted my sites some time ago), but seems to do the job. I'd be willing to host this on the web as a service (free, of course) so people without a php interpreter can use this very useful tool. What are your thoughts on that? Send me a PM if ...

@alexkovac: I like your suggestion very much. I'm a big fan of simplicity when it comes to logos. Especially fond of the logo the way it is presented in the PDF together with "FileZilla". Only thing this logo is missing is a connection to file transfer, but I don't see a problem with that. Keep up t...

Setting files read-only only work for some systems, so it might not work for all servers you connect to. What you can do is connect to the site you're having problems with, change a file's permissions (right click on a file on the server and choose file attributes) and hit ok. Then copy and paste th...

That format/syntax is not supported.

Enter 'www.xyz.de' for address/host, 'abc' as username and your password for password
