Re: Chromium installed without consent. Cannot uninstall. Win10.

To remove this garbage, malware-infested, uninstall-lacking, Chromium from the options from "Open with..." do the following: Launch Registry Editor (Windows+R, type: regedit and press ENTER) Go to: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts ...

... thoroughly apologize for the utter lack of respect it is showing for its users, by allowing this trash software -- which is basically hiding malware, running in the background consuming tons of CPU -- to be installed on their users' machines, without their request or consent.

You have malware installed on your own computer that does this.

Re: Malware thingy thing

That article is factually incorrect. A real shame for a .edu site.

The offer-enabled installers do not contain malware. All they do is presenting an offer for additional software and ask you whether you want to install it as well. Nothing is installed without the user's consent.

Hi Thought I'd share that the following article came up when I searched after FileZilla didn't start for me on MacOS Catalina: ht tps://s ecurity.it.miam i.edu/stay-safe/sec-a rticles/file zilla-issues/index.h tml They concluded "it is best not to use FileZilla"; nothing about FileZilla Pro Thought ...

Re: Cannot start FileZilla since today : EXC_CRASH (Code Signature Invalid)

I'm having the same problem here. Worked as of a couple days ago, today it macOS says it's malware and asks to move it to the trash.

EDIT: Never mind, downloaded a fresh copy and, even though it's the same version, it works. Spooky.

Re: "Malware" / "Adware" / Offerware / Sponsorware

Third-party offers are ONLY in the sponsored installer. They are NEVER used on automatic updating. That game bar feature tries to detect games. As with any detection, there can be false positives (non-game processes are detected as games). Looks like some process falsely triggered the game bar. Noth...

"Malware" / "Adware" / Offerware / Sponsorware

I just auto-upgraded to 3.46.0. Then I noticed that the Windows 10 Xbox Bar program popped up sometime within a few hours later. I didn't even know I had that on my computer as an "app". (I don't play games) Supposedly you have to do Windows-Key-G to bring it up. I had walked away from my computer, ...

Re: Trojan Detected from Official Download

Well, if you have this issue again, just turn off the antivirus when you are 100% sure it's a false positive.

And remember some antivirus are tricky and even some can be considered malware. Be sure you are using a proper one.

It's a false-positive, there is no malware in the offer-enable installer.

FileZilla Has Sunk to a New Low

When i installed the most recent update, I somehow got all this "sponsored" junk that also installed onto my. This crap is nothing more than malware, so SCREW YOU FileZilla for being a party to this. I fully expect this post to be deleted but you can't hide the fact that you deserve a middle ...
