Re: "Malware" / "Adware" / Offerware / Sponsorware

Third-party offers are ONLY in the sponsored installer. They are NEVER used on automatic updating. That game bar feature tries to detect games. As with any detection, there can be false positives (non-game processes are detected as games). Looks like some process falsely triggered the game bar. Noth...

"Malware" / "Adware" / Offerware / Sponsorware

I just auto-upgraded to 3.46.0. Then I noticed that the Windows 10 Xbox Bar program popped up sometime within a few hours later. I didn't even know I had that on my computer as an "app". (I don't play games) Supposedly you have to do Windows-Key-G to bring it up. I had walked away from my computer, ...

Re: Server Error - Using Data SIM and TP Router

... Mobile providers offer a very bad experience. Please note that this behavior constitutes a Man-In-The-Middle (MITM) attack and is borderline Malware. Fortunately, your server requires FTP over TLS secure FTP, otherwise you would have been downgraded to a plain, unprotected FTP connection, ...

Re: Trojan Detected from Official Download

Well, if you have this issue again, just turn off the antivirus when you are 100% sure it's a false positive.

And remember some antivirus are tricky and even some can be considered malware. Be sure you are using a proper one.

It's a false-positive, there is no malware in the offer-enable installer.

FileZilla Has Sunk to a New Low

When i installed the most recent update, I somehow got all this "sponsored" junk that also installed onto my. This crap is nothing more than malware, so SCREW YOU FileZilla for being a party to this. I fully expect this post to be deleted but you can't hide the fact that you deserve a middle ...

... in the hope that client and server fall back to plain FTP (which exposes any traffic to the monster-in-the-middle (MITM)). Such behavior is very malware-like and downright criminal ("Downgrade attack"). FileZilla does never fall back to a lower security or even none at all, thus you are safe ...

Re: pua.osx.installcore malware

Yes, false positives are a frequent problem with overzealous antimalware programs. The id string starts with pua (possibly unwanted application), means it is not a virus or malware, but the AV picks up the third-party offers in the offer-anabled package. ...

pua.osx.installcore malware

I have a problem with version 3.44.2.1 (MAC). I am getting a threat pua.osx.installcore.

If I quarantine, FileZilla won't work.

Anyone else have this problem?

Re: Webdiscover browser is malware

MalwareBytes flagged it as malware! Also it acted like malware. It took over my screen and I could not kill it with Process Explorer since it kept reopening itself. So I spent a few hours removing it. I am quite careful about installing ...

Re: The Server Key Host Unknown Error?

... If the host key presented to you does not match the one you got from server support, you might be connecting to a rogue server (e. g. through malware doing redirection or DNS poisoning). In that case, it's advised NOT to connect at all.

False-positives, the offer-enabled installer is safe to use. There's no malware in it and nothing is installed without your consent.
