Re: Command-line commands for speed limits control

Try modifying the xml file directly and then calling "FileZilla Server.exe" /reload-config

Re: Does FileZilla Server offer API for programming users?

Edit FileZilla Server.xml directly and call "FileZilla Server.exe" /reload-config afterwards.

I've finally made it work. The fact that Java returns 1 it doesn't mean that FileZilla server.exe /reload-config wasn't executed. In fact, it was.

The problem, I think is that in some occasions the reload doesn't reflect the changes in the XML config file. It could be maybe because I call the command several times very quickly.
When the change is not reflected, I wait until all my "Java work" finished and then I call from java the reload command one more time and works fine.
It could be maybe too, because some connections to the sever were opened at the time, and I modify the XML config file and reload the server several times.
Anyway, this scenarios are not very commons in my domain.

Thanks for all... excellent project.

-reload-config issue

Hey,
I'm having this application in wich I add new users from C# in the FileZilla server.xml, then call the -reload-config argument for the FileZilla server.exe.

Sometimes (not all the times) when I want to write to the config file I'm geting this exception :

Code: Select all

The process cannot access the file 'E:\Server FileZilla\FileZilla Server.xml' because it is being used by another process.
Has someone encounter this error before?

I will be very happy is someone help's me with this. :)

I think I did't explain myself very good.

Add new user, delete user I think is working with -reload-config, but add new port number for listening is not working.

-reload-config is reloading entire xml config file, or only the users, and other stufs ?

Help with command arguments

Hey boy's

I'm trying to do this kind of application: from time to time I need to add new users to the server, delete users, add port for the server to listen.
I have add the info about the new user :

Code: Select all

<User Name="..... </User>
in the xml config file, but the server don't recognize this new user. I must stop and restart the server to resolve that.

I tried the command argument FileZilla server.exe -reload-config but it dosn't work. How is this argument "-reload-config" works?

Merci all for any response.

Just edit "FileZilla Server.xml" directly, then execute this command:
"FileZilla Server.exe" /reload-config

What botg is suggesting here is that you can make a script that edits FileZilla Server.xml (e.g. adding new users to the config) and then run the reload-config command afterwards. It's an alternative way to do what you want.

Re: Problem Fixed

GrahamKnight wrote:...Of course, the server only reads the configuration when it is restarted so any changes made to the config XML, whether by direct editing or by using the interface only take effect when the server restarts...
Th XML file is read on startup or when the /reload-config command line arg is used. However changes in the interface take place immediately, since it communicates directly with the server.

You don't need to modify FileZillaServer. I just got it: Parse the log files for users that are trying to login as Administrater or Admin multible times and add their IP to FileZilla Server.xml, finally issuing "/reload-config". As soon as the users are kicked from the server from no-transfer timeout, they won't be able to connect again.

BTW, here's my currently denied IPs:

Code: Select all

<Item name="IP Filter Disallowed" type="string">59.*.*.* 202.91.77.19 210.112.165.251 193.16.255.42 218.50.2.99</Item>
A RegEx can get the list of users trying my Admin username (which doesn't exist):

Code: Select all

\([0-9]{6}\) [0-9]+/[0-9]+/[0-9]+ [0-9]+:[0-9]+:[0-9]+ [(PM)|(AM)] - \(not logged in\) \(([0-9]+.[0-9]+.[0-9]+.[0-9]+)\)> USER Administrator

You didn't understand my question - lets say that I have one central server. I have other servers which all run FTP servers. I want to be able to create a user on them remotely without having to log into the computer. I can't use the existing interface remotely because it has to be automated and since FZS is not running on the local (centeral) server, I cannot simply modify the xml (using php or cfm) and run the reload-config shell command. So - is there anything I can do?

What if one wanted to create a new user remotely - from another server but doesn't have access to modify the xml file or to run the command to reload-config?
