Long timeouts and errors while running client/server on LAN

#1 Post by Phssthpok » 2005-11-11 19:17

I don't mean to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I keep getting long timeouts on file transfers between computers on my network. It's a regular type setup. A few machines connected thru a Linksys router. I get the newest Filezilla client and server. Turn off all firewalls. During the transfer it will stop for 30 secs or a minute. It may continue or it may skip to the next file with a transfer error. I may go for a file or two with no problem but it will stop eventually. The time it spends waiting is long that the time spent transfering. I can't imagine this is common.

Is this just me? Is there some setting I have wrong?

What does your log look like? Often, I have people connecting via a browser, which plays havoc with the server.

Please make sure you're using the latest firmware version of the Linksys router? I've heared lots of bad stories about those routers.
