Newbie question: How to limit FTP access by IP

#1 Post by robokev » 2004-05-17 14:43

Is it possible to only accept FTP connections from a particular IP address range? For example, if my FTP server is outside the company firewall, can I set up the FileZilla server to reject any login atempts from IP addresses outside a particular range?

Regards.

From FZS, I can think of no way to do such a thing. However, you *should* be able to limit IP accessibility to your FTP server by way of a carefully crafted firewall rule or two.

i also miss this feature in the filezilla server. limiting ftp access by using a firewall is not very intuitive. are there any plans to add ip filtering? moreover, a regex filter against the hostname the ip resolves to (if any) would be a great and quite unique feature!

eyebex, you're too late, IP filtering has already been implemented in yesterday's release of FZS 0.9.1

verdammt  thanks for adding this feature, now it's finally time to switch over from guildftpd, i guess! there's a small typo, btw, "Exclude the following IPs from the list of disallowed IPs, thus enable access agin" should say "thus enabling access again". what do you think about filtering against the hostname?

speaking of typos: on "Admin Inferface settings", "Bind the admin inteface to the following IP adresses" should say "interface".
