Can't download files

#1 Post by chrissmit » 2011-08-02 10:01

Hi all,

Just updated to the latest version of FZ (3.5.0). All of a sudden I can't download files anymore. I get the following error: Error: Failed to open "/page.php" for writing
Error: File transfer failed

Any ideas how to fix this?

thx
Chris

Where do you try to download to? In Vista/7 some directories are protected and can only be written to while running FileZilla as Administrator. What was your last version?

Hi,

I'm using a Mac with OSx Lion.

Not sure what the previous version of FZ was I used.

Might be that the desktop of Lion is not writable, but can't seem to change the standard download directory...

thx
Chris

"/" is not the desktop, it is the system's root directory which is traditionally not writable on Unix(-like) system, which OS X is.

Ok, so you've identified the problem.
How can I change the download location in FZ then?

thx

Just navigate to a different local directory.

That seems to have worked...
And (usually as always) was easier than I thought.

thx!
