External IP address

In order to use passive mode in filezilla server or active mode in filezilla client you can specify a site that resolves to an ip address.

The standard addres therefor is http://ip.filezilla-project.org/ip.php, but it's currently resolving to 127.0.0.1 (localhost) and thats not the address you need.

I currently use http://www.whatismyip.org/ to cope with this problem, but it did take some time to figure out what was wrong in the first place. Could the script of http://ip.filezilla-project.org/ip.php be repaired to show the right one?

I'd rather resolve the address somewhere on my lan. If only I knew how to get it from my router.

The script works perfectly. However it only works inside FZ to prevent abuse (I am paying for the bandwidth, so can't allow 3rd party programs to access it)

I'm no expert -- you can take my word for that; but, can't you get your local address by using the ipconfig command in a command window?

I'm having a similar issue, while it's trying to resolve my external ip, it times out. Is there an alternative address to get a resolved ip?

Correction it's not on the ip address. Below is the test results after the ip connection check.

Well, that's a different problem. The test is using Active mode, and it looks like you forwarded no data ports in your router for your client.
