In order to use passive mode in filezilla server or active mode in filezilla client you can specify a site that resolves to an ip address.
The standard addres therefor is http://ip.filezilla-project.org/ip.php, but it's currently resolving to 127.0.0.1 (localhost) and thats not the address you need.
I currently use http://www.whatismyip.org/ to cope with this problem, but it did take some time to figure out what was wrong in the first place. Could the script of http://ip.filezilla-project.org/ip.php be repaired to show the right one?
I'd rather resolve the address somewhere on my lan. If only I knew how to get it from my router.
External IP address

I'm no expert -- you can take my word for that; but, can't you get your local address by using the ipconfig command in a command window?peter.vanpoucke wrote:I'd rather resolve the address somewhere on my lan. If only I knew how to get it from my router.

Re: External IP address
I'm having a similar issue, while it's trying to resolve my external ip, it times out. Is there an alternative address to get a resolved ip?
Correction it's not on the ip address. Below is the test results after the ip connection check.
Checking for correct external IP address
IP ***.***.***.65 gf-dd-bia-gf
Response: 200 OK
PREP 57164
Response: 200 Using port 57164, data token 2115437339
PORT 65,33,180,65,223,76
Connection timed out.

Re: External IP address
Well, that's a different problem. The test is using Active mode, and it looks like you forwarded no data ports in your router for your client.
