Windows10 -> Windows Explorer

#1 Post by audiopro » 2017-01-15 14:43

I have a strange issue at the moment.
Whenever I run Filezilla the taskbar in Windows Explorer closes down.
I can restart it but each time I upload a file the issue occurs.

Any clue what could be causing the problem?

This is the latest entry from the Event Viewer:-

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160}
and APPID
{9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB702511C276}
to the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

Sounds like your Windows installation got damaged. Do you still experience this with a fresh Windows 10 installation?

Another possibility might be faulty third-party shell extensions. Try uninstalling all such third-party shell extension. Fastest way again is using a fresh Windows 10 installation to ensure there are none.

I suspect it is a failure of Windows - thanks.

Fresh installations are no more a practice since Windows 10, instead you have to run a cmd in admin mode and do a "sfc /scannow". This checks the integrity of the Windows system and automatically repair it if necessary.

"sfc /scannow" will, exactly like "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth", repair only a tiny fraction of possible issues. Fresh installation must still be considered the ultimate way of decrapifying Windows.

Does this command uninstall _ALL_ files not in a fresh Windows installation? If not, then it is not the same. For example these scripts do not remove third-party shell extensions.
