Transfering from web to home server

#1 Post by lawrenceblair » 2017-12-19 19:29

New to this, so this may be a dumb question.
I want to download my Wordpress website to Desktop Server Limited on my computer.
How do I go about that?
Thank you,

Generally, you connect to the old host and download the website directories files to your local machine. The Tutorial guide will give general instructions about the technical "how to do". Ultimately, move or copy them to the local server's web root directory.

You will notice I underlined the word "files" in the sentence above. The most important part of Wordpress installations is the database (usually SQL). The database is not exposed as a file and cannot be backed up by FileZilla. You must create a database dump via other means (e. g. phpMyAdmin). THe Wordpress site will not function without the database, so you need an SQL server of some sort running on your local server, too.
No support requests over PM! You will NOT get any reply!!!
