Repeated unknown certificate challenge

#1 Post by whaleyp » 2018-04-02 06:19

Hi, in V 3.31.0 I get challenged to confirm the unknown certificate when

i) I connect to the server (this is expected and normal)
ii) for each thread in the transfer download queue (this is new to this version)

This means I need to confirm that the certificate is out of date for every download thread rather than once when I connect to that server.

I know the cert is out of date but the service provider is useless - this isn't about that, it's about the prompt to confirm the out of date cert.

I have reverted to 3.30.0 as this doesn't exhibit this behaviour.

Is this a design change or an over-zealous defect :)

Thanks!

Design choice, it will stay like that. You aren't supposed to trust servers with expired or otherwise invalid certificates. FileZilla still allows to connect, but will make the experience uncomfortable so the certificate is fixed ASAP. The previous message once at connection was still too convenient, and was just clicked away.

Please note that in a future version, FileZilla will remove the possibility to connect to servers with expired or invalid certificates completely (statement from the developer).
