How to see whose editing

So I have a site that someone edited via filezilla (not from my local machine) and I am wondering if I am able to see the IP the edit/upload came from? I have changed passwords a couples times.

How do you know the file was edited via FileZilla?

Honestly, I'm guessing it was edited through an FTP source since this site is a school project that our team is building in Notepad ++. I just wanted to know if I could see where the new files were uploaded from.

First, FileZilla cannot edit files, it passes the file to an external Editor.
Second, there are myriads of FTP clients out there.

Third, to answer your question: No, you won't know who did upload when. However, the server administrator likely knows, since nearly every FTP server keeps logs.

Any FTP client could have been used.

If enabled by the server administrator the server's log file may have details on who transferred what.

I apologize, I did not mean it was edited through Filezilla, I meant the file was edited and uploaded. Now I am still kind of new to using FTP as I am just starting out. I have Filezilla Client downloaded, not server. Will that make a difference when it comes to enabling logging?

Nevermind, I got the logging. So I can't see what connections did what, but I can see what files were edited and when. Thank you for the previous answers.

Am not really sure if filezilla have this feature. Maybe it could be in recent update. I will need to update my to see the new interface.

I enabled the server logging and I tested it from my house and it doesn't show it...just shows what was edited on Filezilla on my local machine. I appreciate the feedback. I'm just taking extra precautions with security to prevent this again and doing backups more frequently.

The server keeps logs of every file transfer. So, in case a file was edited and re-uploaded, you have the timestamp, IP, and FTP account that did the upload.
