Excessive amount of updates

#1 Post by billybob884 » 2018-05-07 13:07

So I'm getting far too many updates for this program (they're coming at least once a week), and I can't even seem to disable the automatic updater. In "Settings > Updates", I have "Check for FileZilla updates automatically" set to Never, and "When checking for updates, check for" set to "Stable versions only", but this doesn't seem to stop it from automatically checking.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, so I'm sure I don't have multiple copies installed (as was suggested in an older thread), any suggestions?

Is there even a reason every tiny bug fix merits a full program update?

There's one update per month.

If you see more than that you have multiple versions of FileZilla installed, you keep updating one copy only to start an outdated copy. Remove the outdated copies.

I don't know how it's possible for me to have "multiple copies installed", there's only one program directory (Program Files (x86)\FileZilla), and only one executable in said directory. This also does not address the issue of disabling automatic updates not working.

There's a difference between checking for updates and showing known updates.

Can you... elaborate a bit? If it's not checking for updates, it shouldn't know about updates to be able to display them.

Additionally, how else can I check if multiple copies are installed other than checking the number of directories/executables?

Please update to the most recent version, old versions are not supported.

I'm using the update I just downloaded last week, but this neither addresses how to disable update notifications, nor how to check if there are "multiple installations".

Search your harddisk filezilla.exe, you can do this from within FileZilla, it is both faster and more thorough than Windows Explorer.
