FileZilla Parent Directory Access

#1 Post by bpclowery » 2018-08-23 19:54

I have set up an ftp server on an ubuntu server that is currently working
Any user accessing the ftp server, either througha browser or a Windows
Explorer window can only see their individual home directories.

However, a person using FileZilla to access the ftp server, can not only
see their individual home directory, but also, access the .. directory as
well.

This allows them to move to the / directory, as their home directory is
located at /home/<user name>.

I have tried to control permissions on the Linux size of the house, but
by putting in restrictions at the root or home level, prevents the user
from seeing their home directory.

This is an issue that must have been resolved before with FileZilla.

Pleaset contact me at brian.lowery@foveon.com, if you are using an
Ubuntu/Linux ftp server and have experienced this issue.

Thanks!

....Brian

If the server doesn't limit its permissions correctly, how is this an issue in FileZilla?
