I have an EC2 Instance in AWS that i have connnected to using the standard ubuntu username but a keyfile for authentication. i am able to copy new files in and download but i cannot over-write (or delete) any existing files. the individual file permissions are 674 but the owner/group shows up as daemon/daemon so im guessing i am not logged in properly? I am pretty horrible with linux so ive been looking around for some guidance on how im supposed to set this up and having no luck. If anyone here can help, it would be much appreciated.

What happens if you upload a new file and immediately afterwards upload it again, trying to overwrite?

It is successful.. so does that suggest i am the owner of that file but not of the ones already in there? but interestingly, the owner/group is the same.

You mean the newly uploaded files also shown up with daemon/daemon ownership?

Something strange is going on with server. Based on the owner/group you could try asking bitnami support.

AFAIK Bitnami only provides the installers/packages. You need to contact whoever owns the server you're connecting to.
