I was wondering if upgrading to the $20.00 paid version of Filezilla would result in any speed or security improvements for my company.

Both Standard and Pro are as secure and fast as possible. FileZilla does not sacrifice core features like security or speed in order to sell more Pro licenses. There is no "crippling" of the standard version and it will not lose any features it already has.

The big advantage of Pro is that it supports MUCH more protocols and thus servers. Standard supports FTP(S) and SFTP, like it always did.
