Question About Refused Server Keys

#1 Post by kensei » 2021-04-12 18:37

FileZilla is working fine for me but I have a question:

My customers only need to provide a username and password to connect to my sftp server. No key file. When I connect to my SFTP server using FileZilla I get the following:

Using username "Freddy".
Status: Server refused our key
Status: Connected to sftp.wingnutinc.com
Retrieving directory listing...

Even though FZ gives me the "server refused our key" message, it still connects just fine. Any idea why FZ is sending the "Server refused our key" message and then immediately connects?

In the Settings (Connection - SFTP), do you have any key listed under "Public Key Authentication"? Furthermore, do you maybe have keys stored in PuTTY's PageAnt? These keys are tried against any SFTP server.

Thank you for your reply. For this user, no key is stored. Logon type for this user is set to "normal" with a username and password. I do not use PageAnt for any user.
