filezilla server crt certificate purpose

#1 Post by marilopez » 2021-09-03 14:37

Hello everyone,

I would like to understand better the purpose of the Filezilla server crt certificate, and what it actually does.

Is the point of the certificate to actually encrypt data in transit? Or is it a certificate that verifies/checks the client's identity, working as a "second password" of sorts?

I'm sorry if this question sounds too basic, I'm new to all this.

The server certificate is used to verify the server identity. It's exactly like a website certificate that verifies the web server's or site identity.

It is not meant to be for a two factor authentication method (2FA).
