filezilla keeps failing

I'm not very tech savy so bear with me an answer in layman's terms please. I uploaded a large file for a friend and all went well. After that i sent another but this one has failed 3 times in a row. Once i was able to resume it and that worked but it failed again and that time it refused to resume. I tried it 2 other times and it failed then too but never would resume. I tried restarting filezilla and still no joy. When i drag the file to the server window and the failed file is still there it asks me what i want to do and i pick resume. But out of all the times i have tried that whether right after it failed or after restarting FZ it won't resume except for that one time where it resumed but them failed again soon after and would no longer resume.. I don't think my connection is dropping because all day i listen to a internet radio stream and when i lose connection that drops off and does |NOT restart when the connection comes back, i have to restart it. And when FZ failed all those times the radio was still playing. So what could be causing it to keep failing? Thanks.

I don't see a log file in the install folder or any subfolders. Where might it be?

By default the log is only on screen. You need to set a log file in the settings for enabling logging to disk.

Thanks. I set it and i am trying the file again. It will likely fail at some point tho. Hopefully the log will be clear as to why, but is there a common reason it won't resume after failure? When they fail thats not a problem as long as i cab resume them, but out of the countless times i have tried only once did it resume only to fail again an hour later and then not able to resume. Does it have issues with zip files or certain types of files? Maybe it will have fewer issues if i send all files seperately rather then zip them?

FileZilla actually does not care about file types or extensions at all.

Ok, thanks. Transferring now so if it fails and won't resume i will post the log contents.

This is strange. Looking at the logging in the window i was seeing it aborted and some of other things that make no sense to me because the tranfer is still going fine. Maybe you can make sense of it. And what is this "try typing a little faster....i didn't do anything but watch the transfer after i started it.

That was only the browsing connection, which is idle when not navigating the server. Will be automatically reconnected on the next action.

The transfers are on independent connections and not affected by the browsing connection timing out. Note that some bad firewalls or routers might terminate all connections at that point.

_____

@Anyone running an FTP server - That's why the router port triggering feature is working badly for FTP; once the browsing connection disconnects, the port forwards will vanish and transfers fail.

So if i am following you, browsing could cause the router to terminate the FTP? If so, thats not likely the reason because 2 times that it failed was while i was sleeping. My connection is faster during the nite so i did it then for that reason and also so i don't somehow cause it while using my PC.

No, I said the disconnection of the idle browsing connection can, in conjunction with certain routers or firewalls, lead to transfers being cancelled.

Ahh, i see. Even there tho i don't think it's an issue because when i have done this in the daytime like i think i said earlier, i keep a browser open all day with internet radio on and when the transfer has failed then the radio keeps going. And in the past when i have lost connection the radio stream always fails and doesn't restart when the connection is back up unless i do it manually.
also, if it DOES fail today, which from my experience so far with FZ it very well might, how would u suggest i resume it? Ok, right as i was typing that question the radio died and so did the transfer. My connection is down and i will hit the submit button when it's back, assuming thats not hours. D@mn ! I knew it. So how would you suggest i resume? The way i normally do it drag the file to the server window and i get a prompt with a bunch of options, one is to overwrite and of course resume and i of course choose resume. Is there another way to do it that will be more reliable? Ok, there it is. Don't ever use mediacom !!!! This ISP is a joke. I had att but when i moved rural this is the only option and it's dropped out more in the 4 mo i have had it than att did in 0 years. So anyways, how should i resume of theres a better way?

Ok, i followed this and it resumed... https://www.pcmobitech.com/resume-filez ... ad-upload/
I wasn't doing it like that before, but i DID get the resume option so not sure if HOW you u get to that window with the resume radio button matters or not.

great. Once again it failed and would not restart. Wasted another 15GB of my data limit. This app is worthless.
