Good evening
I have set up a Multisite SFTP key in my website hosting account – a Private Key – and copied the key onto the clipboard and then into a file. I am unable to enter it into FileZilla as it says it could not be loaded or does not contain a private key. I had called the file private-key.ppk.
Does it matter what the file is called? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
SFTP cannot add key file

Is it password protected, maybe?

Re: SFTP cannot add key file
FileZilla can detect password protected private key files and, depending on the wide variety of recognized format, use it directly or convert it as needed.
It seems there really is no private key in that file. Maybe you made an error when copying the file contents over the clipboard? Try copying the actual key file directly, not involving the clipboard.

Re: SFTP cannot add key file
Thank you for replies.
I have tried a direct copy and paste not using the clipboard to no avail.
I have no connection issues with using FTP. It is just SFTP that is not working for me.
How do I tell if it is password protected?
Thank you.

Re: SFTP cannot add key file
If the file contains the private key, FileZilla will let you know if it's password protected.

Re: SFTP cannot add key file
You need to convert your key to the FileZilla supported key maybe? you can do that using PuttyGen.
