Can I run FZ Server and Client on the same machine?

#1 Post by AndyHooli » 2022-09-27 14:19

I'm sure this has been covered before, but I can't find it.

I've recently setup a new FZ Server install on a W2019 box. I've now got another request for 3rd party connectivity & their instructions are how to use FZ Client for SFTP using a key generated by Putty Key Gen.

So can I have both on the same box? to add to the complication I've already got Solarwinds SFTP client on the box, but that doesn't seem to allow use of the key gen file. I'm assuming this might be an issue as it'd listen on the same port as FZ Client & the wrong one might answer?

You are confusing something here. Only servers listen on ports, clients generally do not (except for Active FTP, on the short-lived data ports). So, you can have as many clients on your system as you wish. Multiple servers are also possible, as long as they listen on different sockets.
