Hello!
FileZilla is one of the very few applications, that do not support installation and upgrading via winget, Microsofts package-manager for Windows.
When I asked there to provide a so called manifest (basically a file with an URL pointing to the original location of the installer-file and instructions how to install it) for it, I was told that inclusion there is undesired by FileZilla.
As FileZillas installer is mirrored by many popular download portals, I wonder whether this is true.
And if it is really true: is there a fundamental problem with an inclusion into winget, or is it -for example- due to bandwith considerations with your main server? If so, perhaps one of the download-mirrors can be used, if you officially endorse it?
Thanks (for a reply and this great programme)
Support installation using winget?!

We do not condone leeching our bandwidth. If you want to use a third-party utility to obtain FileZilla, said third-party utility must host the files themselves.

Hi!
Thanks for the clarification. So it would be okay for you to use one of the various mirrors, e.g. the one of Chip.de, heise.de, Computerbild, Compubase, Fosshub, Cnet or … as download-source for winget?
At least for me using winget makes it lot easier to keep my software up-tp-date and I could propose that solution there if it is okay for you.

To be a bit more precise if it is okay for you, Chip.de would be the best location for an alternate download by winget.
Re: Support installation using winget?!
I cannot recommend third-party mirrors. If you want to be certain you get an authentic copy, always download through https://filezilla-project.org/
Re: Support installation using winget?!
Oh, will you look at that. They even let one of their webserver certificates expires. That surely inspires confidence.

I've never had been on this forum before although i know filezilla for quite a while. I didn't had read such professional English for a decade! (written by botg)
However I miss filezilla on ms store, winget or at least an msi, because updating then is mostly easier for me.
