550 and 553 Read-only file system errors

I hope this is the best forum to post this question.

I have been using Filezilla for a number of years without problem and recently updated to the latest version, after getting a new harddrive. Since the update I have transferred a number of files successfully, however, in the last few days, I have received error messages I've not previously experienced. Trying to change permissions makes no difference. I have rebooted the computer and tried to perform these tasks 4 times.

My computer skills are pretty basic. Any assistance is appreciated.
