FTP needs for backup schema

Hi,
I am trying to set up a backup schema for myself. My goal is to be able to use backup software to backup files from one computer to another over the internet using FTP. From what I have read it seems that I should be able to set up an FTP server and then use my backup software to schedule transfers to that server (all hosted on the same machine) and then use an FTP client on the remote computer to access the server and download the backups. My plan is to use SyncBackSE and FileZilla server and client. I can't get the server to receive from the software on the same computer, so I'm not even as far as dealing with firewall issues, which seem to be the main problem for new users.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
