Filezila and Ubuntu dark themes

So I noticed that, according to this page, the issues with font color in dark themes in Ubuntu is fixed as of rev 3.1.6:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/284755

I DL'd the 3.1.6 tar.bz2 file and extracted it. I didn't see anything with the word "install" in there, but in the bin folder there was a Filezilla executable that I could run and it seemed to work great and the font problem appeared to be fixed. However, my applications menu shortcut still brought up an earlier version of Filezilla. So being an inexperienced noob, I went to GetDeb and downloaded and easy-to-install deb file of 3.1.6, and ran it. Now 3.1.6 runs from the applications menu, but the font color is still messed up! Anybody know what is going on here?

The problem wasn't with FileZilla, it was with wxWidgets. You have to get wxGTK from their people to get the correct patch. To do that, you need to build wxGTK and FileZilla from source.

Instructions for building 3.15 on Hardy are here. It works the exact same with 3.16 and Intrepid. Get the latest wxGTK source from here.

One more question: The link to the wxGTK source - which file do I download?

You'd need the 2.8 branch head.

I used 2.8.9.

2.8.9 is too old.

That may be now, but it worked just fine with 3.1.5.
