website newbie, what next?

#1 Post by triskell » 2010-01-24 00:59

Thanks in advance for a little guidance. I am looking through the forum but am not finding what I need, probably because my search is pretty basic. I transfered the html file successfully, but don't know what to do next to launch my website. This is new for me, and the tutorial seems to explain things in a way that someone more experienced than me would understand... what should I do next? thanks again.

First, please not we are not a website or HTML forum, we support only the connections and file transfers with FileZilla and/or FileZilla Server.

But if you uploaded your file to the correct location and named it index.html or index.htm then it should work.

Thank you for your quick response. Since Filezilla is the last step before launch, I didn't know who else I should be asking for help... could you please tell me what the "right location"is so as to make sure that the file was indeed transfered to the right location. thank you.

Since the location differs from one host to the next, sadly no. Watch out for directories with names like public_html, www, htdocs, inetpub, web, etc.
