Always asks for ftp password when using uploaded images!

#1 Post by markandroena » 2010-02-18 18:08

When I upload an image and copy URL to clipboard and then insert the URL image in a website I get asked for my ftp password before the image will load. The next time I visit the site it asks for my ftp password before loading the image does anyone know why this is occurring.

Thanks!

Mark

Because you're using the FTP URL in your website. You must use the HTTP URL for your domain.

Thanks for the reply although not sure what you mean by "You must use the HTTP URL for your domain" When I enter http://combateczema.com into my browser which is my site it is asking for my ftp password.Do you mean enter the http URL in filezilla when logging in to that site.

Thanks,

Mark

Enter the password für mark47 on ftp://healthynaturallifestyle.com
This is what I get. You used the FTP URL to link to the image. But you must locate the image on the webserver (not the FTP server) and enter its HTTP URL.

Example from your page:
Bad link: ftp://mark47@healthynaturallifestyle.co ... ettes1.jpg
Good link: http://combateczema.com/mouettes1.jpg

The location of your index.* document equals / (root) on the webserver.

Example:

1. index.html is located in ftp://example.org/public_html/index.html - that's its FTP URL.
2. Change the ftp:// to http:// and lose the public_html/ directory.
3. HTTP URL is http://example.org/index.html .
