Why dont my uploaded files show up on my site

I have recently uploaded a new index.html file to one of my new directories. It said that it was all uploaded successfully, it shows it on the server....but when I go to the site address...it only pulls up the home page not the uploaded page.

Cleared your browser cache yet?

Just for my learning experience...why would I have to do that? and is that something I need to always consider.

The browser creates a cache of your visited sites to reduce load on the network. When you revisit a site before it is expired, then the browser serves the site from its cache. So if you upload and visit the site, you still see the old, cached page. Clearing the browser cache forces the browser to redownload the site.

If you have two index.html's or one index.htm and one index.html then the browser shows 1 of both, so you have to rename the other one of there is another one that is called index.html or index.htm, or delete it if you don't need it anymore.
