are there ghosts?

#1 Post by noraisens » 2010-03-22 19:21

I had to make some changes on my index.html file I uploaded it. It asked if I wanted to copy over the original I said yes.

when I logged into the website, I got the original file
I did it several times. I went so far as to removing the old file from the ftp site and put the new one in and it still happens.
sooooo. I typed in the site address and added /index.html and I got the new file that was modified.
however if I just removed the /index.html and I get the original file.
Do you have any ideas.
thanks,
Ron

Browser cache cleared?

It could also be that you have multiple index documents in the same directory, just with slightly different names. Look for index.htm, default.htm(l) or similar.

I checked for additional index type files and there are none.
I have 6 folders cgi-bin; 3 folders that are empty and 2 folders with images. these are the 8 files .htaccess; contact-us.html; disclaimer.html; index.html; 3d.jpg; privacy_policy.html; styles.css; terms_of_use.html.
This is all there is

Try to rename index.html to index.htm, some servers require it.

If it still won't work, you'd have to ask your hoster, as every server is different. Maybe they have a FAQ on their home page.

What about the browser cache?
