need help with reports in a wp site

#1 Post by cmajor6 » 2013-01-04 15:10

I have uploaded reports to FileZilla so I can link them to my wp site. It appears I have done it correctly, but when I enter my example.com/reports/nameofreport.pdf into an address bar it takes me to the "this is embarassing" page on my wp site. I tried installing a pdf plugin on my wp site, but no luck...help?

Did you take care of case sensitive filenames? On webservers upper- vs. lowercase does matter!

Yes. Everything is lower case.

Does the "source file" need to be all lower case? It's not. I have part in caps.

Only the file names and paths. Contents don't matter. Note that ''unusual'' characters (like spaces and everything other than US letters and arabic numbers) in the filenames need to be HTML-encoded in the browser's address line. For example the filename "foo bar.pdf" needs to be given as "foo%20bar.pdf".

Is it possible to delete my FZ account and start over? I think I must have done something really, really wrong when I started.

If you are with normal hosting, there's no such thing as a FileZilla account. Everything is stored on your hosting provider's servers. Please do not start deleting files there, it could take out your entire site.
Does your FTP server has a document root directory (one like public_html, www or similar)? If you, the reports need to go inside that directory, as everything outside is not shared to the public.

I don't have any spaces. All simple normal upper and lower case.

I have the reports in that folder. Blue Host is my hosting company. Maybe I need to give them a call and have them take a look at things at their end.

Many thanks for trying to help me. I greatly appreciate it!
