Please help if you know about 1and1 and 403 Error

I get the stupid "Error 403 - Forbidden You tried to access a document for which you don't have privileges."
After I uploaded some pages to my site for the first time. Is this because I uploaded to the wrong directory? I made a directory to upload the pages to the same as the "Complete web server path:" it said in 1and1 , that didn't work, so I made a directory the same as the "destination" and that didn't work. Help!
