Document is on server but can't get it to load

I transferred a document to my FTP site and I can see it residing on the server. I then went to my website and uploaded the new document; however, I don't see it on the website. I can see it on the "right side" of the filezilla screen but it won't appear on my website. What could be wrong?

Depending on the website you use you have to link to the new documents. They do not magically appear.

What do you mean by "I then went to my website and uploaded the new document;"?
