Failed to set certificate ... (with unauthorized access)

#1 Post by SergioTorresC » 2009-05-20 06:26

I found the following situation with my filezilla server:

1.- When I tried to login to my remote server I received an error message stating I could not be authenticated.

2.- I connected to my remote server through remote desktop and examined FileZilla log file.

3.- I found there were two unauthorized connections attempts:
(000051) 5/13/2009 18:43:22 PM - (not logged in) (190.87.37.253)> Connected, sending welcome message...
(000052) 5/13/2009 18:44:14 PM - (not logged in) (190.87.37.253)> Connected, sending welcome message...
(000052) 5/13/2009 18:44:14 PM - (not logged in) (190.87.37.253)> disconnected.
(000053) 5/14/2009 12:19:09 PM - (not logged in) (190.87.119.234)> Connected, sending welcome message...
(000054) 5/14/2009 12:19:56 PM - (not logged in) (190.87.119.234)> Connected, sending welcome message...
(000054) 5/14/2009 12:19:57 PM - (not logged in) (190.87.119.234)> disconnected.

4.- Those addresses appeared in the management UI, although as (not logged in).

5.- The next entries (my login attempts) were of the form:
(000055) 5/15/2009 20:44:20 PM - (not logged in) (my.ip.address)> Failed to set certificate and private key
(000055) 5/15/2009 20:44:20 PM - (not logged in) (my.ip.address)> 431 Could not initialize SSL connection
(000055) 5/15/2009 20:44:20 PM - (not logged in) (my.ip.address)>
(000055) 5/15/2009 20:44:20 PM - (not logged in) (my.ip.address)> 500 Syntax error, command unrecognized.

6.- When I saw the two IP addresses from the begining of this message I kicked them out and banned them:
(000051) 5/18/2009 15:54:06 PM - (not logged in) (190.87.37.253)> 421 Kicked by Administrator
(000051) 5/18/2009 15:54:06 PM - (not logged in) (190.87.37.253)> disconnected.
(000053) 5/18/2009 15:54:47 PM - (not logged in) (190.87.119.234)> 421 Kicked by Administrator
(000053) 5/18/2009 15:54:47 PM - (not logged in) (190.87.119.234)> disconnected.

7.- Afterwards I was able to connect without problem.

So the problem is solved, but I thought reporting it could be useful.
