Command-line arguments -C and file to upload

#1 Post by gllanderas » 2009-08-20 08:33

Hello, I'm trying to configure the filezilla client to do transfers simply dragin&drop a file over the filezilla icon, but doesn't work.

I created a direct access to the filezilla executable with the -c command line option, and when I do a doble-clik, it opens the site.

But if I drag&drop a file over the direct access, it responds with an error: "-c cannot be used together with an FTP URL". I suppose that FileZilla thinks that the path of the file is an FTP URL to open (http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Comma ... _arguments), instead of a file to send.

There is any way to achieve this? This would be a really easy way to transfer files to a server, without 'opening' the FileZilla program.

No, FileZilla is not intended to be used that way.

Thanks, botg.

I think this is a good point to implement in FileZilla. More ease and rapidity of use to the end user.

I'm going to submit a request of this feature. :-)

No. FileZilla can't do automated transfers. Only automatic login to server is possible. And this won't change.

The right tool for the right job.

For automated transfers a dedicated commandline client should be used.

This is not a feature for automated transfers, it's a feature for ease to use.

No need to open FileZilla, open connection, drag a file over the remote file panel, close connection and close FileZilla to send it to the server. Just drag the file and drop it over the FileZilla icon.

That internally calls FileZilla and provides the dropped file as command line. That's an automated transfer, and not supported.
