I've uploaded a template and etc folder into public_html via FTP but it's not showing as homepage. The folder I uploaded is named for example ABC so I would have to go to example.com/ABC
In this folder are several other folders. Should I move the folder to public_ftp
or in its own folder in the main root of ftp? (if that makes sense)
if I go to example.com it would show index page.

My host said homepage needs to be named as "index.html" but I don't know what folder to name that.

index.html is no directory/folder, but a file. It's the name of the start page of your web. There are a few alternative names such as index.htm, index.php etc.

If you enter example.com/ABC, the browser attempts to load http://example.com/ABC/index.html.
