Typing/Pasting Local File Paths Error

#1 Post by madriss » 2011-01-26 10:54

Whenever I paste a local file path into the "Local site:" box and press enter, I get the following error:

Filezilla could not parse server address:
No host given, please enter a host.

I'm using Windows 7 64bit. Even if I just type in C:\ I get that error.

Sorry if this is already a known bug or anything, I could not find any information on it. I'm running Filezilla 3.3.5.1 the zip file portable version.

I'm sure I used to be able to type of paste a file path into that box and it would take me there.

Posting here for information first, if I should file a bug report please let me know.

Tested and works for me. Looks like something in your system keeps the focus on the QuickConnect button. Can you use <Tab> to get to the box prior to pressing <Return>?

Thanks for the quick reply. Hmm that's strange. The Local site box is definitely in focus when I press enter. If I press tab it goes somewhere else, when I tab back onto it and press enter I get the same error I was reporting. Perhaps I should just try exporting my settings and downloading Filezilla again then import them again if it's working for you?

The problem is that the portable version is not from us and thus not supported.

Does the installed version reveals the same issue? There are some third-party program which can interfere with FileZilla (and others, for that matter). For me, it jumps to whatever path I paste in. The error you posted occurs if you press the QuickConnect button while no info is entered.

I've installed the install version now (it seems to still know all my settings - must be saved in the registry?), and I have the same issue with that. Took a little video for you just to demonstrate:

As you can see I'm definitely not using the QuickConnect button though I do see the same error if I do click it. Any ideas what could be interfering?

I've now tried using the Edit > Clear Private Data option as well and ticked everything, restarted and still the same problem.

I've also tried hiding the QuickConnect bar now, that stopped the error but the directory still does not change, it just does nothing.

That's weird. Any sort of non-standard keyboard? Any accessibility software installed or some other software interfering with focus behavior?

Which enter key are you using? The one above the shift key or the one at the numpad?

I've found the problem now, it was caused by QTTabBar (http://qttabbar.sourceforge.net/) installing the newest version of that doesn't fix the problem, I've filed a bug report with them: https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/qttabbar/ticket/160
